"Atheism, therefore, is the absence of theistic belief. One who does not believe in the existence of a god or supernatural being is properly designated as an atheist. Atheism is sometimes defined as "the belief that there is no God of any kind," or the claim that a god cannot exist. While these are categories of atheism, they do not exhaust the meaning of atheism -- and are somewhat misleading with respect to the basic nature of atheism. Atheism, in its basic form, is not a belief: it is the absence of belief. An atheist is not primarily a person who believes that a god does not exist, rather he does not believe in the existence of a god."

~ George H. Smith

Are we atheists passionate about something? Hell, yes. I'm passionate about atheism, but atheism isn't about nothing: it's about valuing reason over superstition, about conquering unfounded fears, about facing the real world without crutches and lies to hold you up. I'm sure someone is going to sit there and dissect the letters of the word and tell me that atheism means only an absence of belief in gods, but screw that -- it's about a whole philosophy of thought that is built on materialism and naturalism. It is an idea with substance.

Clutch, Captain. Perhaps one of those pedals on the floor."

"By-Tor And The Snow Dog"

Tobes of Hades, lit by flickering torchlight
The netherworld is gathered in the glare
Prince By-Tor takes the cavern to the north light
The sign of Eth is rising in the air

By-Tor, knight of darkness
Centurion of evil, devil's prince

Across the River Styx, out of the lamplight
His nemesis is waiting at the gate
The Snow Dog, ermine glowing in the damp night
Coal-black eyes shimmering with hate

By-Tor and the Snow Dog
Square for battle, let the fray begin

The battle's over and the dust is clearing
Disciples of the Snow Dog sound the knell
Rejoicing echoes as the dawn is nearing
By-Tor, in defeat, retreats to Hell

Snow Dog is victorious
The land of the Overworld is saved again

Hitler Was No Atheist!

Damn! I am sick and tired of religoids claiming that Hitler was an atheist! You'd think the religious would be concerned about the truth, but no, any lie that belittles one who does not believe in the supernatural is ok.

How about a little history refresher...

We were convinced that the people need and require this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement ...we have stamped it out. -- Berlin, October 24, 1933

My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! -- 12 April 1922

Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord." -- Mien Kampf

Wesley Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison - one year for each count he was convicted on for misdemeanor charges of filing a false tax return.

He was released today but must turn himself in to a federal prison when contacted by the Federal Board of Prisons and told specifically when and where.

A jury found him guilty in February of willfully failing to file taxes for three years, in which the government said he owed $2.7 million. more...
